Could it be that the modern AST headstock shape actually began as early as 1988 on Custom Edition AST models??

* Note the top edge at the end.

New shape. This one with truss rod adjustment at the headstock signifying it is from after the mid 2000s.

Kind of weird and confusing because AST Goldstars made in Japan kept the headstock shape they first had beginning in 1983 all the way through until 2003 at least while some Custom Editions and what seem to be Korean AST guitars used the newer shape?

Still sorting this out.

Surprised to realize this. Might be a way to tell what was made where?

No serial number provided.

Also, not super confident in the information sometimes gotten from Toklai. Without a nmae of the person making the claim I tend to take it with agrain of salt.

"Tokai has confirmed it is a 1995 Made in Japan, Basswood body, maple neck , rosewood board. They also say the Charvel tags have nothing to do with them. My best guess is the person bought this guitar used with a Charvel practice amp on the date specified on the card. The original owner kept it as a closet queen. It's 24 years old, and except for the small ding on the front it looks brand new."
