    Help with Love Rock ID

I bought it from a UK auction so UK would fit/make sense. From your reaction, I'm assuming all of this is good news? It's a lovely guitar. Haven't plugged it in yet but feels great, finish (frets etc) is excellent.

    Help with Love Rock ID

Hi again. Finally got my hands on this guitar. Under the bridge pick-up, it says s-59 and then 14 or 74 followed by something I can make out. Perhaps you can. Under the neck pick-up, it just has C5 written in marker pen. Maybe it's CS, but I'm not sure. Finally, I included a pic of the label...

    Help with Love Rock ID

This is so helpful. Very grateful indeed. When I get it, I'll do exactly as you say. In general, are these good guitars? I have a 79 springy sound, and it's to die for. I understand that this is a different era etc but wondered whether these instruments retained any of the earlier magic. Thanks.

    Help with Love Rock ID

Hi all, I bought this guitar yesterday on a bit of a whim - I got trigger happy on an auction site and, well, the rest is history. Anyway, no regrets since I've always wanted to try one of these. But I'm not sure exactly what I bought. What I do know from the auctioneer's info is that it's MIJ...

Any idea what year this is?

Hi all, Calling on your expertise once again. This is a guitar I picked up ages ago. I know it's not special - revised headstock, no spaghetti lettering etc - but I love it and it plays well. But I have no idea what year this is. Anyone have any idea? Thanks very much in advance.

help with model number and dating of Goldstar Sound (I think!?)

Thanks for the super-rapid feedback. Truth is it was an impulse buy so probably should have done some sleuthing before pulling the trigger. But I know my girl will be happy with it. I'll post a couple more pics when I get it (tomorrow).

help with model number and dating of Goldstar Sound (I think!?)

Actually, just seen that the machine heads aren't the split ones - not sure if that means that it's something entirely different (and much more recent).

help with model number and dating of Goldstar Sound (I think!?)

Hi all, It's been a long while since I've called on your collective expertise but I'm back, and with a question about a guitar I picked up today for my daughter's birthday..... I don't have it in my possession yet so I'm having to rely on third-party photos, which are terrible - but at least...

    ST100 on E-Bay

I never understood the gold trimmings bit. I hate gold hardware. Makes these lovely guitars look overdressed like some small-time mafioso's front room.

    Springy becomes Goldstar

It's one of those words that almost everyone, including me, uses incorrectly. Another one is "arcane", which a lot of people use to mean ancient when in fact it means secret or mysterious.

    Springy becomes Goldstar

Yet another example, including difference in ageing on the finish. Fender is a 1982 Fullerton reissue, which is showing its age. The Tokai is a 1979 ST-80, which looks brand new despite being three years older than the Fender.

    Need help identifiying goldstar sound..

Hi and thanks for this great site. Absolutely incredible. Anyway, I've spotted a Tokai strat copy for sale but would love you guys to tell me more about it. Seller claims it is mid 80s. It has a remodelled headstock with the script decal and Kluson-style tuners. But it also says goldstar sound...

anybody ever get RIPPED OFF from a ebay seller?

Just be grateful you weren't on the receiving end of this description of one of the ugliest, fakest crappiest guitars i have ever seen. I wont post the link cos the photos have been taken down (shame). But the seller's pitch is worth reading alone. BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE - GIBSON? ACOUSTIC GUITAR...

    1985 AST 56 query

Since found out that the guitar has V stamped on the bottom of the pups (vintage?). If anyone can tell me about these pick ups - how good they are and how they compare to the notorious E pick ups - I would be mighty grateful. Time is a slight issue in this possible sale so any quick information...

    1985 AST 56 query

Hi. Im looking at an AST 56 from 1985. Could someone please tell me whether this guitar has the killer E pick-ups I have read so much about in this forum? Also, I am not sure whether this model falls more towards the top end of Tokais's production line at the time or if it is more towards the...
