@ about the japanese electric guitar god, "takeshi terauchi"........

Takeshi Terauchi (January 1939-) is a Japanese surf rock guitarist whose music combines instrumental surf rock inspired by The Ventures with traditional Japanese folk music. In Japan he is considered one of the great guitarists of 'Eleki,' the form of Japanese surf rock which developed in Japan following The Ventures 1962 tour.

He was born in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. He started his career playing rhythm guitar for a country and Western actJimmy Tokita and The Mountain Playboys. In 1962 he formed his first group, The Blue Jeans. However, in 1966 he left the group and formed The Bunnys with whom he played until 1968.

His preferred guitar is a White Mosrite. His guitar sound is characterized by frenetic picking, heavy use of vibrato and frequent use of his guitars tremolo arm.

First electric guitar bought at age 20 ,1959 Sunburst Epiphone Casino with 2 dog eared black P90s ,bought from Sound City shop Charing Cross Rd London, cost ?119. I think.(I still remember the smell of that guitar).Amp .Vox AC15 , a little shi*kicker of an amp "2 El 84s etc.Happy Days.My playing was bloody awfull though ,has improved a bit since then, honestly!Gabe.

My first guitar was a Epiphone dot from Korea, It came with a hardshell case and a little fender bullet practice amp, they even through in a patch cord all for $400 Canadian around 1998 or so. I wanted to learn the guitar and wanted something that i could play with or without an amp. Also I had always liked the look of ES-335's and when i saw this one i fell in love. Big fan of Ten years After as well and that probably influenced my choice to a degree. I suppose you'd call it a Walnut burst or some such, it's certainly not a standard 335 burst from what I know of them but it's to my eye the most beautiful of all my guitars. I've toyed with the idea of selling it now that all my other guitars are MIJ but every time i pick it up, i'm amazed at how nice it really is. I'm sure it doesn't compare to a Gibby or a Tokai etc but for the money i paid and our time spent together I don't think I could really part with it. Of course if Tokai should ever come out with this flavour of burst i might very well be tempted ......

First guitar and amp was a MiJ Coronet amp and a MiJ cream coloured Tele with the 3rd fret dot inlay missing..so you had to play around the pothole.
Not Sure of the brand of the MiJ Tele...was a pretty decent guitar...nice skinny neck for a kid to learn how to play.
After a while I swapped it for a MiJ SGish monstrosity again...not sure of the brand but it had the good old bike reflector pickups and about 2 million switches....the only thing slightly SG about it was the headstock shape and the body shape.

1st Electric Guitar was a Futurama 111. Bought VERY Secondhand in 1969 for the princely sum of ?7.17s and 6p.
It was truly vile, but I loved it to bits. I came to the Electric Side late. I had been an Acoustic Guitarist for some 10 years prior to this purchase and only went "Electric" on the advice of a friend.

I had no amplifier as such, but I did have an Echo Valve Radio, so that became the Amp. You know? As I write this I can still hear that old radio warming up and smell the dust burning off the valves.

My first guitar was a Sigma acoustic that I bought off a teacher leaving Korea when I first arrived in June '01. I then bought a Cort Earth 200 for myself for Xmas that year and sold the Sigma back to the guy I bought it from (he came back).

I played that Cort for a while and then decided to get an electric. I looked around and settled on an Epiphone Les Paul. When I went out to shop for it, I met a shop worker which was one of the very few guys there not trying to sell you something you don't need. We talked about what I liked/needed/sound I wanted. Then he rec'd a Washburn WI-64DL Idol. He said for the money, it's probably the best he has. So I went to a PC room and did a little research on it. It seemed that this guitar was getting great reviews. So I went back and bought it, a cheap Korean solid-state 10w amp, and a DigiTech RP-50.

I still have the Washburn and won't get rid of it. I really like the guitar, but I'll keep it more since I'll never get what it's worth to me (sentimental value) if I sell it. Also, it's my 'Canada' guitar - the one I leave at my Dad's house to play when I go home on vacation.

Since then, the amp is gone, the RP-50 is gone, and I've gotten a Micro-Cube (awesome for traveling!) and my first 'good' amp - a Laney VC-15.
Although I have WAY more gear than I need for my skill level (and always looking for more :-? **** disease  ) I find myself most often playing my SG-155 with my Laney nowadays, or through my Korg Pandora and headphones if the little guy is sleeping. Still looking for a p90 guitar though, and a 5w amp. This Laney is way too loud for my apt.

My first guitar was a Sigma acoustic
Ha! Me too :) Mine was a Sigma-Martin D-18 or 28 copy. Very nice guitar for what is was and cost. I was around 13 at the time, and that got me started on several years of boring campfire strumming until the summer of '83 when I took all my summer earnings and bought my first electric, a SWEET Ibanez AR-100... but I was too stupid to realize that a nice guitar deserved a nice TUBE amp, and bought a crappy little SS Crate to go with it. Eventually threw the amp out, and sold the guitar about 10 years ago during a playing-hiatus... second stupid move. Oh well, live and learn.

Three Sigma stories in a row.

Wasn't actually my first guitar, but it was the first guitar that became a keeper. Mine's the DR-28, made in Japan (possibly in the Tokai factory, from what I've heard) circa 1983. Still haven't worked out whether I was just spectacularly lucky or whether they were all that good. Was auditioning a Goodall acoustic at a local shop recently, and took the Sigma in for comparison. After about fifteen minutes of me swapping back and forth, the sales assistant came over and asked me how long I'd had the Martin for. He nearly choked when I told him how little I'd paid for it.

First amp was my hi-fi, which I was torturing with a Vox Peardrop bass since I didn't have an electric guitar back then. Managed to blow up both of the speakers in a feedback loop that I was using as a rather primitive synth.

Think my first real amp was made by Ohm, but I can't tell you anything about the company. Had a rather dodgy parametric eq: I could make it sound weird, but couldn't really make it sound good.

The first guitar I ever played was my brothers Hondo acoustic ? terrible. I bought a Strat copy some years later, maybe 1995, think it was an Encore Strat with a Fender 15W amp. This was replaced with an Epi LP Slash and I currently play a lovely 1950?s MiM Fender Strat with noiseless pups through a RP500 into a Vox VT30 (soon to have a Tokai LC85 to keep it company.
