Actually I kinda liked that. Does Yoakam still have the magnificent Pete Anderson doing his Telecasting for him?

I'm pretty sure this is Anderson playing lead on this one, despite someone appearing at the back of the video playing a Strat. It's clearly a Tele - gorgeous tone. :p

That is an awesome Breezy tone there Stratman.

To each his own and all that, but I find Yoakam embodies everything I hate about the more "Well Yee-Harr pardner, dang ma poons!" variety of country.

More Glenn Campbell and Dan Tyminski please, and less Dwight "Bo Duke" Yoakam.

/Rant over. As you were, Gentlemen.

(In case anyone wonders who Dan Tyminski is):

"Yessir, we have both types of music. Country and Western!"

/ Blues Brothers mode.

"Dang ma Poons"? No idea. I heard someone use it as an exclamation one time and it kind of stuck!

Nice one. Here's another one with WC Clark - Austin City Limits in 1989. (I think you can find it on DVD as WC Clark and Friends). Very tasty, funky playing by SRV and WC - Chris Layton on the drums.

Only ACL show I was lucky enough to go to while I was living there. Jimmie Vaughan, Charlie Sexton, Will Sexton and others were there. They all got up on stage and did a killer version of Take Me To the River (Al Green style)

Dr. Feelgood ~ Roxette

Check out the tone of that Tele 8)

Man..Charlie Sexton...
Another one like John Mayer...their recorded work never shows 1/4 of what they can do on guitar.
The Sextons grew up playing alongside the Vaughans in the Texas bars and I can always remember that time in the early '80's when Charlie was the flavor of the month on the pop charts...they would always mention his hot guitar style and none of his recorded pop crap reflected it :-?

Sorry lads, don't mean to hijack this........

Yeah, Charlie Sexton came out with that first real album Pictures for Pleasure back in the 80's as a teenager.....had the song Beat's So Lonely on it...got a fair amount of air time and was perfect for MTV.

I think Mick Jagger caught wind of him and really talked him up - think he played with Keith and Ronnie a sometime thereafter.

In addition to his work with the Arc Angels,

he's worked with alot of people like Bowie, Dylan, Joe Ely, Bill Carter, etc. His younger brother Will had a band called Will and the Kill that Charlie played with for awhile - they were pretty good. Jimmie Vaughan guested with them too.

I adore Etta, but she was never really a looker :-? (sorry Etta). Beyonce, looks nothing like her! Too much in the looks department, not enough in the vocal department! I hope she proves me wrong...

Ruby Turner might have made a good choice to play Etta, though I'm not sure if she's well known across the pond. She does a stunning version of "I'd Rather Go Blind" in her live shows, well worth catching Ruby if she's in your town.

Well it is a film, and looking at Beyonce for 90 minutes won't be too much of a trauma

It could end up being another one like "I Walk The Line". Reese Witherspoon was more attractive than June Carter, & a much better singer. The guy who played Johhny Cash didn't have the voice needed, even his speaking voice lacked the power that Cash's amazing voice had. So the impression was given that Johnny Cash's wife was a better singer than he was - anyone who ever saw them live will know that was definitely not the case!
