This Greco has got a strange serial number format, I think it reads A50605. There's no sticker on it but it has a long tenon, anyone know why the serial number isn't like the other Grecos (MYYXXXX):

its a veneer of course..

pre 1990 greco's are better

ask for a pic of the back ..some greco's were bolt on in the 90's..

Hey villager ,i'm looking at a 1983 mint collection cream lp custom. It has long tenon, dry 82 pickups,and shielded wiring, I was wanting to know what model it is ?. serial no starts with l 83 he wants$ 480 USD.

its a egc-1000 buy it...but see pics of the back of pickups and check it has fret binding first..

Thanks villager, everything checks out ok, it has a couple of little knocks but overall it is good.The pups have a sticker on the back it says, dry 1982, , i also spoke to a friend in japan and he said EGC 1000 as well.
I think its a keeper

Kanda Shokai has used variations on the Y XXXX format.

For A50605 I'd say it's a MYXXXX format with A=Jan and 5 0605 = 19X5.

Judging from the truss rod cover and logo it is a 1985 Greco.

Currently Kanda Shokai is using a M 0YXXXX format on a transparent sticker on some of their made in Japan models. The Orville K 0YXXXX sticker format is very similar.

btw has anyone seen Greco LP's or SG's from 1991 to 1994 with the open book headstock?
I havn't been able to find any.

Hi there, I was wondering whether anybody could tell me how you can distinguish between the egf1000 and the lower egf models if there is no sticker on the neck? Thanks in advance for any help. Andy

by the pickps, EGF-1000 have dimarzio PAF's EGF-850's have either greco ser no PU or Greco double trick PU. also there is usually lesser flame on an EGF 850

According to the greco catalogue the EGF-1000 has greco paf pickups not Diamrzios - where do you get your info??

the catalogue actually says dimarzio PAF's...

I have owned about 40 EGF-1000's every one had Dimarzio pafs..
