hey, just a quick question, i hope someone can answer for me...

how much would it cost to have a guitar refinished with nitrocellulose laquer, and would there be any benefits from having my LS85 refinished with nitro.
or would this just be a waste of time doing???

any help with my query would be gladly appreciated...

thanks in advance

A lot. Especially on a guitar with binding and a burst finish.

Very little to no benefit. Tokai's poly application is pretty thin, and thin poly has practically the same tonal properties as nitro - hence the really expensive boutique makers like Anderson moving towards thin poly as their main finish.

A refinish, no matter how good, would probably kill the resale value as well.

Just noticed that you have an LS85 - the quilt veneer would probably have to be removed in the stripping procedure as it's so thin and would be very hard to preserve. Either that or you'd get charged an insane amount of money for the job.

Basically, don't do it because it's a huge waste of time and money.
