Just grabbed this earlier today. Not sure exactly which model it is, but serial # 1229xxx leads me to believe it was made in 2012. From the catalog from that era, It appears to be a LS100Q, but not sure. It has a long neck tenon, what appears to be a solid quilted maple top, nice dark rosewood fret board with MOP inlays and one-piece mahogany neck. Before I pulled the trigger, I checked inside the control cavity, and could see that the solder joints were neat, but not original, and shielded PU leads and Orange Drop Caps. After I got it home I was able to do some detail examination and discovered previous owner added Slash PUs! No wonder it sounded so good! It has an ABR-type bridge and a Nickel/Aluminum Tailpiece.

Update: Just found the original pick guard (uninstalled) & hardware in the side pocket of the gig bag. The factory warranty booklet and card state that the model is HLS160Q SR. Date is a little confusing, though. It's hard to read, but looks like 2015, but with a serial # starting with 12, I just assumed it was from 2012.

Congratulations. The serial number on the card should match the guitar. Can you post pictures of each?

BTW, The "H" means it is a Hibiki order. It won't be in a Tokai catalog.

H= Hibiki
LS= Les Paul copy
160= 160,000 yen
Q= Quilt
SR= See thru red finish

Here is some more info on Hibiki Tokais.

Serial on the Warranty card matches stamped number on headstock. I interpret the date to be March 23rd, 2015. (unless that's a really sloppy "2").

The warranty card was filled out by the retailer, that is not when it was made. So it sat in a store for a few years. Not uncommon.

And no need to hide your serial number. Nobody cares. It's not like a Gibson. The only reasion to hide it is if it was stolen.

Interesting to note that on a couple of these Guitar Planet Reborn Old guitars that they seemed to hold them for a year or two before they sold with the sale date on the warranty card.

So the orders were placed before they had buyers it seems.

Wow - thanks for the details. I have learned so much on this forum from you and others regarding the back story on these guitars since I posted my NGD last Fall when I picked up my 1980 Reborn Old. Were the Hibiki orders Poly, or Lacquer finishes? (HLS160Q)
