Seller is listing it as a 2008 LS-148. Pickups are changed to EMGs (Yuk!), but I have plenty of good PUs to rectify that quick! What would the finish be (poly or nitro)?2008TokaiLoveRock_08.jpg

Well, the serial number is 2008. There was not an LS148 in 2008.

Can you post pics of the guitar so we can see what it is?

Yeah. No idea what they are talking about.

Looks like an LS75/85. The price went up 10,000 yen between 2007 and 2009 so the model changed. Or if it is an engineered body, maybe LS120SEB or LS132SEB.

And that is it for black Les Paul standards in 2008. Unless it is some sort of special order, but very unlikely given that it just looks like a black Les Paul Std.

And the finish should be a thin polyurethane on the LS75/85.

Thanks! Before I do any deal, it's better to be informed. If it indeed has the "60s slim-taper" neck, I'll probably pass, since I already have a nice '90s Gibson LP Standard in ebony with a fairly fat neck (nitro finish, of course!). I should be able to check it out this weekend, so I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for all the info. Checked out the guitar this afternoon. It was in excellent condition and the neck had a nice profile too it. Not quite a fat '50s, but not the slim-taper '60s either. Unfortunately, the neck has developed a twist to the bass side, and needs to be looked at by an experienced luthier to determine if it's reparable. Regardless, I passed, so no new one for me today. I still haven't posted a NGD thread for my '79 LC-100 yet. Got to get my butt in gear and take some pix!
