Hi Folks, just acquired this beauty, it’s a garage find and still in it’s original hard case. Ive never owned a Tokai and don’t know much about them just that they are good guitars. Can anyone give me any info on it? Serial number is L26954 FC167672-86F4-462D-856B-C233460F9D63.jpegFC167672-86F4-462D-856B-C233460F9D63.jpeg

Holy crap!

We need more information to get the model, but it’s metallic blue, MB, a rare color. It has a matching headstock, more rare.

That serial number is 1985 I would say. Maybe 1986.

The 6 in the code is June.

Probably June 1985.

Do you have pictures of the pickups & pots or the end of the neck?

With those pickups, it looks like a TST50 base plus 5 for the color plus 5 for the headstock, so it ends up being a TST60.

I would call it a TST50 +5 +5.

Do you have a picture of the pots? The one ATO linked is an outlier and I was hoping to find more data points as the numbering system changed in early 1986.

Thanks and congratulations.

Wow, great find! My money's on June 86 based on this one in the link having a lower serial and Feb 86 pots. If your pots haven't been swapped out they should tell us.

I have always been uncomfortable with this guitar and really need more data points. It always seemed to me that it may have been modified as evidenced by the neck plate being upside down.

Would be great if we could get pics of the pots in this MB guitar.

1986 Goldstar

Brass ground plate

VII pickups

Fender style serial number

SN L24424

Plate on upside down.

Pots date to Feb 1986 (62).

Help me identify this Goldstar

Also, can you post a clear shot of the decal on the headstock with a flash? Want to be sure it is a Goldstar, etc.

Thanks for that, any idea of its value as it is and with original hard case.
