    My Goldstar, but which one?

Hi thanks for the info - all very interesting, and I guess the conclusion to drw is that it looks like an original Goldstar from around the mid-80s, with some leeway either way... I'm not entirely sold on the idea that Tokai wuld have put left-over parts on new models just to use up the stock -...

    My Goldstar, but which one?

More pics... Serial no is 226780. I had a look on the registry dating page but couldn't find anything conclusive. What's the significance of the round string trees, mirrorboy? Cheers[/img]

    My Goldstar, but which one?

Hi - long time lurker here, very interested in the background of these great guitars. I've been a fan for 20+ years, having bought a new Breezysound in the Camden Rockshop in 1989. Still have it, tuned to a 5-string open G for Stones covers... The question here though is my Goldie, which I...

What guitar stands do you use?

To return to the OP for a sec, I use and recommend Hercules folding stands for home, rehearsal and stage use. The single guitar units are very compact, and (I was told this when I bought it) the soft pads aren't supposed to react with nitro finishes. I've been using one for a couple of years and...

    Ebay: Ice Blue Goldie

Oldflame No offence intended. Truth be known, I spent 18 years there myself before fetching up in Bath, so i certainly shouldn't be throwing stones... but there is a certain type, you know?! AlanN The Star? Bell? Few better places to sink a couple or eight, IMHO... and then rolling around on...

    Goldstar pickguard question

Feck. That's where I've been going wrong then. As you can see... http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii281/anyfulekno/guitars/IMG_1154.jpg Sorry, not the most brilliant of pics. Here's some more, 'cos you asked! I'd be interested to hear any comments about which exact model it is - I don't...

    Goldstar pickguard question

Makes sense, yes, thanks stratman. And it does have a maple neck! I suppose i was concerned that the pickguard is one of the easiest parts on a guitar to swap out, for example if one of the screws has been overtightened and cracked one of the corners off. I bought my Goldie about four years ago...

    Goldstar pickguard question

I see many images of Goldies on this forum. Some have three-ply pickguards, some have single ply. Is it easy to say which models/years had which as original fittings? I have an 80s model with a single-ply guard.

    Ebay: Ice Blue Goldie

Don't sell it to them though...! It's an odd thing about Bath: it must have one of the highest densities of musicians per square mile of any populated area in the UK, and yet it is seemingly impossible to run a decent music shop here. The quality of the live music available on the street and...

    Ebay: Ice Blue Goldie

Name like Chipps, you'd have had to gone North, lad... It's all chickpeas and chorizo down here now - I have to head for the midlands to get a decent pork scratching these days. Sorry, guitar shops, did you say? The outrageously overpriced Vintage and Rare, pandering to the outrageously...

    Ebay: Ice Blue Goldie

Got the same colour Goldstar Sound, but with a maple neck, which to my eye looks even better against the blue/grey body. Lovely to play, too.

So which amp is your favorite?

Koch Twintone. Dutch-built 50w valve combo (koch-amps.com), superb build quality, bought from Holiday Music in London a couple of years ago. Fantastic tones, especially through the clean channel, which has some clever circuitry to stop high-output pups from muddying the sound (if you choose to...

    How did you discover Tokai?

Walked into a music shop on Camden Road in about 1988, picked the ivory Breezysound with the maple neck from the wall and like the OP of this thread, was converted within about 5 minutes. Just so easy and smooth, so much better than the USA Strat I'd previously been wrestling with for about a...
