Tokai LS 95 - fully solid, weight relief or chambered?

Hiya guys! :) The guitar in pictures above is a '04 LS200. Easily the sweetest Les Paul I have ever touched. It has a very very light one piece body with a stunning top, ebony(like?) fretboard, Seth Lovers, etc. It weighs only 3.8kg/8.4 pounds. It sounds brighter, open and airy compared to my...

    2004 LS-200

Long time has gone but here we go again! :) Not big surprises here. Gibson might have little bit more neck wood in the neck pocket. 2005 Gibson R8:

    LS 540 and 420 differences?

Well, maybe the objectiveness partly depends how you take that demo. But sure it's there for commercial purposes. However, I personally don't see that demo as a challenge between real burst, Gibson CS or Unicorn. I think it is just a very good example of good, classic Les Paul tones of (very?)...

    LS 540 and 420 differences?

Sorry off topic but when speaking of Les Paulish and spanish cedar I can't resist mentioning Juha Ruokangas, a Finnish luthier. Most beuatiful guitars I have evers seen: http://www.ruokangas.com/?page_id=7&sub=13 I recommend you also check out the 'media/videos' sheet. For example the 'Unicorn...

    My new Tokai :)

Fabers are just great piece of hardware. I used to change lockable bridge, alu tailpiece and tone kit (studs and washers for the tailpiece). Gottfried has always offered very good service to me, despite of all the rumours here. However the sound will change and it is pretty much a matter of...

    LS 540 and 420 differences?

That is not true, not with my R8 anyway. The neck tenon route is very tight and nicely crafted. However I have heard the same rumour about some era of Gibson USA(?)

    Improving my Tokay LS-Custom

According to internet there are thousands of girlfriends, wifes, mothers, etc that can hear infinitesimal differencies but still the number of before and after demo clips is almost zero :D

Scratch plate or no scratch plate?

Very nice guitar but it needs the plate :) +1

    Tokai Inlays

I agree with Alan but must say that this is one of the most beautiful fretboard I've ever seen. Just look at that grain and deepness in the inlays. Stunning!

    Tokai Inlays

I have bought 4 Tokai LP in two years. Everyone of them had that inlay 'inconsistency', some more some less, but everyone had it. To me it is not a problem tough, and I would not talk about quality control problem but it sure is typical for Tokais.

    Knob help!

New gear month (includes Gibson LP 50s tribute) - pics heavy

Very nice Alan :D It looks like I need one more guitar.. Are those p90s same pickups they use in R6?

Tokai MK2 pickups - different types?

Thumb rule is that the resistance of mk2 bridge pickup is about 8ohm when it is made by Gotoh and about 11-12ohm if it is made by Keiyo. And they sure sound very different but I am pretty sure that so does your guitars. However, I would be surprised if a LS-200 had Keiyos(?) Pair of Mk2s goes...
