The 6 digit serial number under the Fender style system, 1982-1986, only allowed for one ST model, the ST70. At least originally, when the system began in 1982. Apparently some other models were also squeezed into this 6 digit scheme and not shown in the 1982 table.
One could assume that it's a later (1983..?) version of the 1982 ST-70 1960 copy, but with a maple board, not rosewood. On the other hand, it's got a veneer maple board, not a slab like the rosewood one on the standard ST-70. The few early-60s Fender Strats ordered with maple boards seem to have had slabs as well. Could it in fact be a TST-60 '64 copy, but with a special order maple board? Maybe that would up the price to 70k JPY?
But why the early CBS era serial instead of L+5? Is it supposed to be a copy of a 1965 Strat, CBS era, but from just before the large headstock came in? It's one of those instances when you wonder how much they actually knew about the originals. Maybe they thought maple cap boards weren't around before CBS took over?
