It looks like the 6 digit serial numbers start around the same time as the Fender style serial number system that began Feb. 1, 1982.

There are a bunch of Breezys that have humbuckers and tremolo units that would not have fit under the historic scheme and I would assume necessitated a different system?

And then by early 1986 the Fender style system is abandoned altogether in favor of a six digit system, 2xxxxx.

One system gives way to another as less and less historic replicas are made in the late 80s until the serial numbers stop altogether sometime around 1992 and do not resume until late in 2009, a period during which Tokai was making flat top guitars for Fender.


Here is a chronology of the 6 digit systems I have found:

1981/82

1984/85

1988/89

Five Digit Serial Numbers 1xxxx 1989 1990 ?

1990

Six Digit Serial Numbers Starting With 01xxxx 1991 1992
