L00500 is very low.

Would be interesting to know, but I have found that the order of the neck plates is not always chronological. Seems to have been some shuffling going on or things happening out of sequence.

If you have pics "under the hood" we would love to see them.

Yes. The L serial started Feb 1982 and yours is a low number at 500 so I was expecting yours to be made in Feb or March 1982. The first number of the code is the month of manufacture so yours is most likely Feb 82.

Although as Sigmania says the serials can't always be relied upon to follow the timeline!

There's a guitar identical to yours earlier in this thread made in Jan 1982 with the code 1=1 but with a UK block logo.

Thank you guys. So 2 is februar, what does 8 stands for ? 2=8. MG is metallic green and what does Z stand for.
I'm learning from you. Great
ps I'm always been very glad for old Tokai guitars. I bought my first Sonic Blu Stratocaster in 81/82 and the Metallic Green Stratocaster was my second that I bought used. I swap a old amp for a 1979 st 60 Stratocaster maple neck and bought a Brezy sound 81 with rosewood from years ago.
I found out that tele is better for me. So I would love to have a old tele more.......
I have 3 old basses, Jazzbass, hard puncher, and fretless. All my instrument is with Spagetti Logo.

Very cool. And unfortunately there is no consensus as to what the "8" and the "Z" means. There are lots of theories.

I have a metallic green ST70/75 that was made at the end of 1981 before the serial numbers switched.

I don’t think I have ever seen a Springy/ ST with a seven digit serial number starting with 20xxxxx? That would have to be January. So they possibly started the change at the beginning of the year? Or they used any remaining 1981 neck plates for January. I don’t know.

Super cool guitar!

Going by other serials this will be 55 or 65 and I'd bet the house that the stamp will be 10=6.

10=6 ST55 MR 1020817
10=6N 10=5B ST55 OW 1020828 (Matching head springy bought in Japan)
10=6 ST65 MG 1020940
10=6 ST55 MG 1021223
10=6 ST55 MR 1021435
10=6 ST55 MR 1021437
10=6B 10=4N ST55 MR 1022181 (switch dated Sept 81 = 19 3)
