I want to buy this Burny Super Grade, the owner tells me it's the '81 ....
I do not know how to identify, but, I know that the tuner machine with double rings is from '81 but the truss-rod cover with wings is from '88/89... so I dont understand..
can you help me??
You got your answer over at MLP forum, why ask here again? It's a 1989-91 model. RLG-60 if it's from 1989, RLG-70 if it's from 1990 or 1991.
If the back of the pickups are brass = VH3 = 1989, metal = VH1 = 1990 and on.
Check for pot codes: first digit bottom row 9 = 1989, 0 = 1990, 1 = 1991.
I have had both and I prefer the mighty RLG-50 plaintop models from the early 80s BUT 4 out of 5 early 80's models were 4.6k and above.
Someone on the MLP forum just got an RLG-60 from the early 80's that was 4.8 kg.
I'd say you should be ok with that guitar as long as it has no problems with veneer separation.
