Sounds like the speaker in my Crate VC30 has some crap in the voice coil and will be parting ways with me very soon.
I'm gonna' need a replacement! I could do what everyone does and go get a Vintage 30, or I could ask for some suggestions. As mentioned it's a single 12" loaded in an open backed cab, coupled to a 30W class A amp.
I'm a man of many influences, however I do like British bite over American smoothness, I prefer the loose open sound over a tighter hi-fi sound. Low wattage early breakup etc.
Also don't know if it is worth the extra for AlNiCo when there seems to be so many great (or greatly described!) ceramic models out there.
Finally, there is a Melbourne speaker manufacturer called Lorantz making their version of Greenbacks. Has anyone tried these, and are they any good?

Any advice would be great!
Thanks,
