Not a Tokai but a Fender JV Strat

I'm with villager on that as well, never seen a JV with "made in japan" in that position on the neck. The lettering on the JV serial no. doesn't look quite correct to me either.

actually thats a point that slipped my mind. It does have the same p`ups and pots as my other JVs ...good thing it was only a couple of hunderd dollars.
 
Maybe someone just swapped out the neck.

Mine has a later dated neck, but I knew that when I bought it.

Those early JV's are some good wood, though man. It's my favorite Strat and I paid like $400 for it.
 
mmmm, my JV9XXXXXX has made on Japan on the base of the neck, and I bought that off Villager......
 
made in japan is stamped on the neck base of all JV's after early 1983..

but... ALL JV's have a neck stamped date up to the last one made in early 84..

some also have a Y or an R on the neck / body join face..but standard 62 is a later stamp..not a JV..
