Slade
Cum On Feel The Noize

It's pop/glam rock and not blues but Slade were one of the best at pop rock IMO but never really cracked the states but that awful Quiet Riot version did.
Kiss, Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Aerosmith and even Oasis got a lot of stuff from Slade as well as others.
Gene Simmons has said that Rock n Roll All Night is really a Slade based song.
Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols got a lot of the Sex Pistols rythym guitar style from Slade as did a lot of others.
I was a little kid in England when they were at their peak and I saw them on Top of the Pops and Noddy's in your face vocals would go through anything.
I suppose Noddy's voice is similar to AC/DC's Brian Johnston or whatever his name is but Noddy's voice is more distinct.
I suppose that's why Malcolm and Angus chose him because he's a Noddy clone.
For me Bon Scott is the real AC/DC singer and when I listen to the AC/DC early stuff you can hear all of the stuff that came before them like Free, Slade etc in fact Malcolm Young was in a glam rock band here in Australia before AC/DC.

I saw Slade live a few times in the 80s - they used to play the Music Machine in Camden before it became the Camden Palace. They were one of the best rock bands I've ever seen. Nobody, anywhere, had a voice like Noddy Holder. :D

Shame they split up...

what a band!!

for those of us growing up in the UK in the 70's (11 in 1970)this band were MASSIVE.

In terms of popularity/record sales unless you were there you would not believe how big Slade were. Definitely second only to The Beatles in terms of singles chart impact, with no-one since getting close.

As far as rock credentials listen to Slade Alive and remember what happened when they got a last minute call up to Reading 1981(?)and NO-ONE was able to follow them.

jesus..if it's Sir Mick, Elton and Paul surely it's time to say "arise Sir Noddy"!!

I had loved them deeply ... especially the Kevin Cronin era from '78 to the mid '80s ...

I bought the album "YOU CAN TUNE A PIANO BUT YOU CAN'T TUNA FISH" back in the '70's when I was a young apprentice building up my record collection.
I used to walk into the local record store and ask 'em what was new and what did they reccomend.
I'd never heard of them before that and I fell in love with them straight away..!
And yes Rog...Cronin was it.

Bonnamassa was very disappointing when I saw him earlier this year. He's turned into a predictable heavy rock player - such a waste

Here is an old Jimmy LLoyd sond with great guitar by Hank Garland...All the texas guys like Jimmy, Stevie denny, and derrick grew up on this guy....

Very nice. Speaking of Jimmie...

The Fabulous Thunderbirds - She's Tuff, a wonderful Jerry McCain song. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any footage of Jerry on YouTube.
