Looks nice. Does anybody have one?

Mike

I don't have one but I've been lusting after this one - no funds though at the minute :(

It's got some odd bits of scaffolding attached to the bridge Dave.

What odd bits of scaffolding? Pickups on that one have been changed to Phat Cat P90's

 "bit's of scaffolding" is Mike's derogatory term for a Bigsby

Good, that means I'm (slowly) getting to know my Gibsons. :D I thought I hadn't seen any MIJ Tokais like this, but I think there was something similar but MIK?

Atta boy..... yes there was a Korean version.... almost bought one in fact. The MIJ version is gorgeous and well appointed. Only problem with a big box, fully hollow guitar like this is that the feedback issue can be a bit unnerving until you learn how to deal with it.... then it's fun.

You can feel the howls start to develop before you even hear them - particularly when you're playing single notes or chord triads on the the high strings - the bass strings start to sound off even if they haven't been touched......but a simple rest of the palm on the offending strings takes care of that. Becomes second nature after awhile.

I didn't know there was a re-issue. Mine is a strange beast, it's the well worn shell of a '64 with everything else (tuners, electrics, bridge etc.) new. It's not a collectors piece - the crack in the headstock sees to that - but it has a certain vintage mojo. And it cost me a fair bit less than a pristine one would do. I'm still not sure whether to replace the stupid Bigsby thing.

All my other Gibsons are Tokais!

The only other person on here who has tried it is Gabe - bluejeannot. And he doesn't like it all!

Nice guitar..... here's the Custom Shop reissue:

Looks nice. I don't imagine they are cheap!

I tend to play mine as an acoustic as often as I plug it in. Despite how other people see the 330, to me it's like a jazz guitar. Shame I can't play jazz....

I'm not convinced that the Kent Armstring P90s in mine are the ideal pickups, they are so close to the strings that they seem far too loud.

You can buy the 330 Custom Shop reissues here for about $2,000 - which is a bargain.

I'm not a real jazz player either - though I'd like to be. Swing and Jump stuff is as close as I get - throw some 6th and 9th chord voicings into your stuff with a swing kinda feel and it'll get you there.

I loved the way SRV said that he played "fake jazz" on some tracks. I think those were his words.

Anyone buy this one with my favourite scaffolding  Someone got a good buy - wish I'd gone for it now! Anyone here get it?
