What is that Ken? The only cars I can think of that have wooden steering wheels are Alfa Romeos. But that's going to be an American car, I assume?

Now that's what I'm talking about!! Screw the guitars ..... I want one of those. It's a Shelby Cobra . One of the baddest American made animals on 4 wheels. If Chrysler built them like this, they wouldn't be bankrupt:

Well that's one way to wear out a set of tyres in 5 minutes!

Looks like a fast car - will it go round corners?

:wink:

No kidding....but judging from the looks of the neighborhood and what one of those beasts cost, I don't think it'll set him back too much for a set of rubber. Will it corner? Without so much as a gnat's wing of lean into that corner. Fantastic machine..... basically all engine with wheels and metal stuck to it.

Well that sums up American cars! Built for long straight roads with no corners for hundreds of miles. Which is why most of them have prehistoric suspension, the sort of springing that hasn't been used by the Europeans or the Japanese since horses went out of fashion.

:wink:

Sorry Marcus, I don't wish to offend you, but I like cars to have the subtlety of American blues.......

No offense taken.... it's certainly not subtle but it has a big sound, makes the heart race and it's rough around the edges (kinda like a Strat) - the way I like my blues. Billy Gibbons is a car freak gear head.....has a nice coffee table book featuring guitars and autos.

Jimmie Vaughan is a street rod builder and collector too. His custom 61 Caddy (the Ironic Twist) is an award winner:

Here's his 54 Ford;

Indeed he is. So is Frank Beard (ZZ drummer - the one without the beard! :lol: ), but Frank prefers European cars. Well Ferraris to be precise. As he says, he's the last to leave the party & the first one home.

Did you hear that Dusty Hill's brother Rocky died recently? Here's the scoop:

Shelby Cobras were developed for track racing, and have great handling...they beat all the Corvettes & Ferrari's on track ( except on the high speed European tracks, where the open cockpit had too much drag to match the higher Ferrari coupe speeds.....that is, until they developed their own coupe....the Shelby Daytona, which annihilated the Ferrari's of the '60's, won LeMans, and would have won the Championship if Enzo Ferrari hadn't had the final race cancelled ( politics!! ) because he knew he was going to lose )

The Cobra wasn't a purely American car, though. It was an existing English model before Shelby and Ford got involved with it -- the AC Cobra. Shelby had AC build him a batch without motors, then he installed small-block Ford V8s. Later, Ford got involved with the chassis and body redesign to accommodate the big-block 427 engine, but AC did the actual manufacturing.

Off topic, but I've just got the same tired Love Rock pics I've posted in other threads.
