Hi,I'm actually looking for a MIJ les paul and I saw this greco.

http://imageevent.com/chingo123/april2009/grecoeg600lpc3pusb4189

But I'd like to know some more things about it.
I think the pickups are U-1000 but i'm not sure
What is the tenon of the EG-600
Up to what price it is worth the shot?
Thank you :D

HI
NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE WHAT KIND OFF PICKUPS THAT HAS THE NUMBER 5 AS THE FIRST NUMBER IN THE PICKUP NUMBER .... BUT THE GUITAR IS A MINT SERIE AND HAS THE SUPER POWER ON THE TRUSS ROD COVER ,,,, SO IT IS A LOWER MODEL ..... AND THE PICKUP IN THE CATALOGS SAYS IT IS SCREAMING PICKUPS .....SO I WOULD THINK THEY ARE SCREAMING .....
BUT DONT GET ME WRONG ........... I GOT 3 EGC 500 FROM 82 (2 WITH THE PICKUP WITH 5 FIRST .... TRY LOOKING IN THE FORUM THER IS A TOPIC ABOUT THE PICKUPS )....... ALL VERY VERY VERY GOOD GUITARS :D :D :D :D ,,,,, I WOULD HAD NO PROBLEM BUYING IT ... IF I WAS LOOKING FOR A 3 PICKUP LP ...
ALL THE BEST

Well you asked about tenon length and this shot shows it. Do you not know what you are looking at? if so, why ask if it is a long tenon or not. It has the same tenon as the super real series guitars, it will not effect the tone and these are great guitars, this one is a transitional model with characteristics of both the super real and mint collection models.

The tenon in the shown pic is a so-called 'medium tenon', fixed with 2 dowels. Thats a Greco-specific Tenon, also called 'dowel-tenon'. A 'short tenon' is not visible in the PU-cavity. My GRECO EGC-500 Super Power-model shows some comparable specs.
- 3-pc maple top
- 1-pc mahogany body
- 1-pc mahogany neck
- rosewood fretboard with fret edge binding
- celluloid inlays
- split diamond headstock-inlay-
- die cast tulip-tuners
- medium tenon
In the EG-500 model-line GRECO mixed compounds of different series. They grabed what they could get. So you can find an EG-700 neck on a lower semi-hollow EG-500 body (for example)...

The GRECO Super Power 3-PU -model chingo offers is a good guitar, made from great quality materials. It shows a few specs you normally won?t find in this prize-segment.

hi!i'm still looking for a good MIJ les paul and i saw a greco from the 70's without serial number , the seller thinks it's an eg-700 ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/22552280@N02/sets/72157619802866482/show/ )
but i saw another eg-600 3PU mint collection and i was wondering wich one was better? The EG-700 has better features but i heard the grecos from the 80s are better than grecos of the 70s , what do you think i should do?
thank you again for you help :D

That is a very nice EG600P from 1982, and that one in particular is the last of the SUPER REAL era guitars, before MintCo, a lovely Super Power with 3 U-1000 pickups stamped for 1981, greco dowel tenon joint, and the lovely Greco logo that was used between mid 1976 and mid 1982 before mintco....

The other guitar shown well...with 5 digit 1975 stamped pickups and a post 1976 logo on the headstock, no serial on the back of the headstock?

Both look nice,

Pickup serial-#: First didgit shows the type of PU ('2'= U-2000), second didgit shows the production-year ('1'= 1981). Pic also shows the 'medium tenon' (NO dowels!)

Hi,

The first digit is a production line number only.....
The markings whether U-1000 or Ud or whatever, where sometimes engraved onto the back......., yes the 2nd digit is the year......nice EG500C with UD pickups made by Maxon.....

The following pic shows my GRECO pre-Super Grade EG-700 T from 1975 (transition-model without serial-#)
Referred to the list this should be equipped with U-2000 PUs

It is the thin logo:

I need to correct myself. The guitar is built in 1975.

Hi mojoburst, she is a late 1976 model, the 1975 model had the thicker logo, then in mid 1976 changed to the lovely thin logo you have on your nice 76 EG700, 8)
