Collecting examples here.

They are a bit confusing.

I’ve seen them called TST-50A and ST120 MK on handwritten COAs.

They seem to be high spec special order guitars going back to 2012 at least.

Translation:

The absolute hammer! After almost a year of waiting, we couldn't wait to receive this Custom Order Tokai. We are presenting the guitar in a small number of pieces and absolutely exclusively for the Swiss market with the following ingredients: Body - light swamp ash with 60's body shape with a beautiful shimmering blonde finish Neck - one-piece fat C-shape neck with 9.5" radius and in flamed maple and beautiful tinted vintage finish and of course with original F***** headstock hardware - from Gotoh and kept in gold throughout. Try it out immediately and give yourself a huge gift is the order of the day. The photos may not correspond to the guitar in stock. Please ask us for photos of the available instrument.

Really nice TST, definitely NOT a TST50! Converts to more like an TST350!!

The Mystery of the "Tokai Mary Kaye"

theriffjunky:

"I suppose we are all guilty of high praising a new guitar we have just acquired but the playability of this is truly amazing. The workmanship on this is top notch and it just feels right in your hands. The bridge pickup sounds fat, not spikey, position 4 is Mark Knopfler-esk which I love. Neck pick up gives an SRV impression without muffling out or sounding hollow, just big fat rounded tone."

Are these your oders? What was the model actually called? Hard to believe it was called a TST50 unless it was an anniversary model or something?

Yep linked above. I don't think people understand what these are.

Not sure what the equivalent TST would be with a one piece ash body? I am sure it's not a TST50.

750 Euros = 815 USD

815 USD = 105587 Japanese yen

That's the equivalent of a TST105

That is still way below it;s value.

One Reverb one is selling for twice as much with a flamed neck.

Tokai Guitar is definitely one of the most famous and popular Japanese electric guitar brand which has captured the heart of guitar players worldwide and have been used by legendary guitarists!

All MIJ Tokai guitars are hand-made with their original production line in the Hamamatsu factory in Japan since 1977....

For Set Neck models, Tokai specifically uses "glue" for attaching fingerboard and neck.

Only few craftsmen and skilled luthiers are allowed to do gluing, this process needs special skills to make no gap between the fingerboard and neck and creating the perfect and smooth playing experience.

All MIJ Tokai guitars has a very resonant body and the built quality is superb, paired with premium hardware and electronics.

Few months back I bought this beauty. Seller said that its supposed to be TST-50 Mary Kaye edition, but was not certain, since there's not much information on this model. I have tried to google it everywhere, but many of these TST-50A or TS120MK version are a little bit different from each other. Some of them comes with "flaming" neck and the paint is somewhat different even between the 50's. Other thing that I have noticed is that every MK version serial number starts with 12XXXX or 13XXXX, where this one is 10XXXX. Question here is that: Is there any way to actually know the model number for this guitar? I even contacted Tokai Japan to ask for this, but they told me that they do not keep track on the guitars based on the serial number.
BTW: Bridge and tuners are not original. Previous owner changed them.

I believe these were special/store orders. I know Faber in Germany placed some of these orders. I believe the person making the order names the model? Not positive but that is what it seems like.

Try contacting Faber. The owner is a member on this forum as well, but you may have better luck messaging him through his web site.
