I would like some assistance, please, in identifying this guitar.
I purchased it used, in 2003, from a US serviceman stationed in Okinawa
This is what I have assumed by referring to your site and the LP site.
The serial number 2012968 suggests that it is a 1982 production.
The 2-hole truss rod nut cover and black rear covers, plus the fact that bridge and saddle are marked ? Made in Japan? suggests Japanese made.
The finish appears to be polyurethane, not lacquer.
The back is 3?piece, and the top 2 pieces. I do not know if it is a solid top. There is no indication of veneer at the pickup hole edges, but there are two small hairline cracks in the surface near the pick guard mount hole. How does one tell?
I believe that this is referred to as the ?long tenon? model as the base of the neck intrudes into the pickup cavity.
The tuners are marked ?Deluxe.?
What puzzles me is that there are no pencil or pen marks, or stamps, anywhere in, or on the guitar.
There are no stamps or marks on the pickups but the wiring looks undisturbed and original. In fact the guitar seems to be completely original except for one replacement volume knob. (which I fitted)
Any relevant information would be much appreciated.
