I was just wondering about compatibility of neck plates with Fernandes re: the hole spacing, and if the neck plate was possibly switched with one made for a Fernandes guitar for some reason..

Looks like Fernandes, while being made by Tokai, often used blank neck plates...

Note: I started a separate thread on Fernandes strats:

Examples of Fernandes guitars with blank neck plates shown below. Possibly all three versions with no serial number?

This one looks like the first version of the neckplate, small one.

I guess the obvious question now is, does the person you got this guitar from have a Fernandes or some other guitar with a neck plate with a serial number starting with 00xxxxx? May be selling it or already has? Worth checking on. Maybe subtly ask if he has any more guitars?

The other obvious question is why would someone remove a neck plate containing the serial number and drastically change the appearance of a guitar?

Thank you Sigmania!

It was said that the bridge, jack plate and neck plate were changed. It was bought on yahoo auction so it's rather impossible for me to ask now the seller for more info..;)

Indeed those 2 plates (mine and fernandes) you have shown look much alike. Why someone would change the plate - that's a big question..:p

Thanks again for your Huge input, that's really kind of You!

Guitar plays and sounds great, waiting for a must have refret...:p

I got this guitar back few weeks/months ago. While refretting radius was a bit flattened. Luthier after his job wanted to buy it from me, he liked it that much.
At the moment and for all the time I have it, it's my nr 1 guitar! It's amazing, magical instrument! WOW!
