Yes, nice to hear from you again Sneaky. Are you still in Japan or have you come back to Canada?

Did you have that ESP made for you at their Craft House Custom Shop?

no, got it used locally. It is without a doubt one of the finest MIJ guitars I have seen so far and for the money the original owner paid, it should be.

I would have to disagree. I think it's quite a nice top. But, exactly as you say, that's a matter of opinion.

However, is it deserving of the price attention that it is drawing? That's another question altogether.

its an EGF-1800 so i think the price will go higher than 300000, and yes it is very deserving of the price, due to the rarity, thats why people are bidding so much!!!

its as rare as a early LS-200, and in my opinion a nicer neck and PU than the 200's

its not that expensive really.. look at a historic with a verified braz board...

I guess the Greco edge-burst's scare some buyers off?

I never recognized it until someone here mentioned it. That's good for scaring some potential buyers off.

So these Grecos are definitely Braz?

It's true with the Historics - the presence of a Braz board on a 59 reissue adds $2k to $3k to the price!
But, it's because of the rarity and the connection with the original bursts, not because they sound any better than Indian or Madagascan rosewood board LPs.

pretty sure yes, ''Mr Greco'' in Japan established this in his extensive research, and I think it was specced in a catalogue, or one of the many factsheets at one time..

if its rare then its usually going to be expensive

I can't tell the difference most of the time, sometimes for the highly figured smooth braz its obvious, but sometimes for the less figured its impossible for me to tell by looking,I just have to believe what the specs say...

all the tokai LS-320's I have had have been catalogued as brazillian, yet from looking at them I couldn't tell..

for the greco's its pretty well accepted that some 850's and 1000's and all 1200 and 1800 super reals are brazillian.

Nobody was bidding on this one :

Now it looks like the actual 1800 will climb higher..looks like starting at a low price is more attractive for both sides

what do you mean edge burst?

All old burst's were teardrop burst's. The only edge-burst on the "burst serial" web page is a refin that was owned by Dickie Betts.

Here it is in action, was owned by a Japanese fellow, it was recently up for sale somewhere or another. Sotheby's ?

edge-burst is same paint style as Fender sunburst's.
