Hi Forum Folks,

Quick 'heads up'!!

Pete Feenstra presents Ex-Rolling Stone guitarist Mick Taylor plays the Real Music Club in Whetstone, North London (N20) on Saturday, 20th September, 2008.

All Star Band featuring Denny Newman (guitar), Max Middleton (piano/keys), Kuma Harada (bass) & Jeff Allan (drums).

This is an exclusive London show and this is the first London club show that Mick has played in the UK in three years.

Those who were lucky enough to witness the man in action at the Boom Boom Club (Sutton) Feenstra promoted gig at the end of last month will attest that the man is playing on top form at present. If you are at all a fan of world class blues and slide guitar playing then for heaven's sake don't miss this one!!

Promoter's web site:

http://www.feenstra.co.uk/

Tickets: ?12 (adv), ?15 (door)

Click "Venues" tab and then "Whetstone". Be sure to prebook ahead (small saving of ?2, it all helps!) as this show will be sure to sell out on prebookings alone. Small club venue capacity only around 250 or so. Venue has been very recently refurbished to a high standard throughout and both stage sound and lighting are well up to the mark.

Best regards,
Darren/Mole Man

Harada & maybe Allan were in Snowy White's band around the time of "Bird Of Pardise weren't they?

Hi Mike,

Harada definitely though not sure about Allen. Of course Snowy White himself used to play in MT's band in the 90's so that is where the association probably stems from.

Best regards,

Okay, not a full gig review but just wanted to say that Mick Taylor and band were just great! A complete sellout, loads of people had to be turned away...

Do try to catch the man in action at his next UK show for Feenstra (but be sure to prebook before setting out):

Thursday 9th October, Tickets: ?12 (adv), ?15 (door)

The Beaverwood Club
Beaverwood Road
Chislehurst
Kent
BR7 6HF

He did make himself available for CD signing and chat after the gig, BTW.

Best regards,
Darren/MM

Listen to his slide work on this and his ending solo at about 4:50 into it is blistering:

One of my favorite players of all time.

Nice. The only versions of Love In Vain I can recall by the Stones had Taylor playing slide throughout. So, either he can play slide on light strings, or he's using something like 11s for the solo at the end. Cool.

The only stuff I've seen from Taylor since he left the Stones was pretty uninspriring. Maybe I should give him a try in future?

I love their live album Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out......Mick Taylor is on the whole thing. Sympathy for the Devil is outstanding.
