Hi,

I bought a few month an old El Maya SG. I didn't know anything about the guitar and the company and have no success finding informations about the guitar.

The Pickups are not the original ones

Can anybody help me identify this guitar (model number and year of build?)

Thanks
Marcus

I don't have a Vintaxe account ($$) so I can't tell you the arbitrary model number they gave it but it's very likely possibly 1976-ish (1976 is the only catalog showing a Standard SG with harmonica bridge).

Edit: The tuners look much like standard Gotoh Rotomatic style, that may or may not indicate a somewhat later production date.

Did someone say VintAxe?

I looked and don't see this one in the catalogs that they have on there. They had 3, all from the 1970s.

Only one catalog had an SG and no flower pot.

SG-240 then (the bottom left one), the only one with harmonica bridge and 2 chrome PU covers (IOW a copy of the mid 70s Gibby SG). :) Black color isn't listed, another indicator for a later production date.

Check around the logo. That would be a hard thing to paint around.
