From what can be seen in the pics, the pickups look like the bottom flatwork is a slightly deeper triangular shape than standard and the wires red, white and blue and fairly thin? I've seen similar harnesses in late 70's Fresher Strats. I suspect they're OEM units, so probably not a manufacturer indicator, though. They're not the Maxon/Fujigen electronics you see in Grecos either way. Any more pics?

No these look different. The solder spots are spaced differently and the wires are routed through a hole to the front on mine.
I thought I'd post this because I have a original '81 SS40. I love the neck. I was thinking of selling it but now I'm keeping it.
I just want to get jumbo frets on it and change out the pickups.
My question, were these made with a CNC machine or by hand. I think that it was around '81 when they started using CNC machines.
