Here is a rare LS-100 Love Rock Custom by the looks, which also had the mahogany top? And originally in a Crimson Colour?

I was going to bid on this, but, the owner has painted over it in Fender Fiesta Red by the looks... ... refin or yikes.

Could be good for someone who likes to restore these lovely guitars!

AH! ITS A LS100 FROM 1981,THANKS GRECO-BURST,

Been watching that red tokai for a few days now, thought it was a ls60 1981 because of the red finish.only ever seen red ls60s.
Now i know why the usual suspects japanese dealers/collectors have jumped on it.BAB*****,HE bid on it as soon as it came up for auction 2 days ago.
NOW i am that little bit more interested,

But there is a LS70 on togps webpage, the red back on mine seems to be darker.

Pictured LS70 is all red. (Maple top)
LS100S OR only top is lacquered in red. (Mahogany top)

I see some red paint on the fingerboard in the extra shots. I don't see a serial number either - looks like it's refinished?

ah now there is a added photo link that was not there a few days ago when posted for auction, I only had the original auction photos to work from,i can see fret binding,a ls100,looks like the headstock been repaired ,not a bad break by the looks of it.
A very nice little project indeed,no headstock love rock logo ,wonder if there are any more nastys under that horrible red
Looks like to me the owner has added information that was not there before either, some from here ,i wonder if he read this thread? added the extra stuff today.

LS 100S- Body one piece mahogany no maple cap.
Its a replica of a very rare all mahogany '57 Les Paul Standard GT.
For the Tokai specs look at togps history page.

one piece mahogany body, no,,,,solid maple cap, solid mahogany body, wow! never knew that
It must weigh a ton and sound like it,now i know why it has had so much interest, and all the japanse dealers/collectors crawling over it like a rash.

MOJO HOBO

Is that all ,thought it would be over 4kg , ah well, makes sense, two bits of mahogany cut exactly the same size will weigh different amounts.
WOOD IS WOOD
3.7kg,love to hear how that things sounds :)

THANKS SETTEBELLO

So I have been doing a little more thinking ,that got me thinking
So how would this guitar be constructed and routed ,would it be built like a normal lester ,mahogany 1-piece back body ,which is then routed for pickups cavities ,wiring ,then a solid mahogany top placed on top ,like they do with a normal maple cap.or is the method used to construct this guitar different,How was the original gibson 57 model made.

MOJO HOBO

Its build like a normal LP.If you look closly to the pic of the neck cavity,
you can see the seam. One piece body and one piece top.
Sound is fat, unplugged it?s resonant and have a good sustain.
Can?t say how the original was build, but i think the same way. There is
only a few words about on a website, but i can?t find it anymore.

been tracking that one too :)

very nice condition with only the top painted red, w/cherry back & sides

I like it much better than the all red .....................

Yes, togps and settebello know these guitars quite well, my understanding from them is that only the top should have the crimson colour.
The other LS-100 looks like it has a refin with Fender Fiesta Red colour all over...not a specialist job though by the looks...having said that maybe the buyer might know was is underneath that Fiesta Red, because the price was beyond what the seller expected, from translating the description and story link...
