Tokai HLS-420 Any other owners out there?

Wish I knew what the heck that stood for?

Tokai HLS-420 Any other owners out there?

Man I'd love to try the Fralins. But I'm a big chicken :( I went with a known quantity, and got the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates... They actually compliment the guitar very well. It's very harmonically rich. I picked up my Gibson '98 Standard with SD Alnico IIs and I have to say the Tokai...

Do you have any idea what the K stands for? I am going to try a SD neck pup soon, so Ill see if it's in there.

Roger, I'm still trying. Jacco, I haven't opened it up yet. I'll shoot some pics when I do.

Ha, I had to go look up Gil Yaron! :) I will no doubt take it to my tech to let him drill for the pickguard mouting, I'll see what he has to say. Yeah, it definitely feels "right". I sure wish I knew what the guys at Hibiki were thinking when they wound the pups though....

Tokai HLS-420 Any other owners out there?

I bought this guitar last year and could not bring it home. Any way I finally got it back from Japan and it's everything I remember. I picked it as it was the least flamed of the bunch :) From straight on it sometimes looks like a flattop. But from the side the flame is evident. Changes: I...

sg-175 vs gibson sg standard or 61 reissue

Actually don't recall saying anything about their sound. But now that you mention it, nothing special in that department. Bad decision to keep a piece of crap because it's supposed to be cool. But rock on... :P And for the record, if it were truly were a tone monster, I'd keep it too. But not...

sg-175 vs gibson sg standard or 61 reissue

Spend your bread as you see fit. But for me, if I order a $3000 guitar and I see tool marks on the fretboard it's going back. You want to settle for that have at it. As far as finding fault with every maker, that's for sure. But to the point of this thread, Tokai seems much more consistent. As...

sg-175 vs gibson sg standard or 61 reissue

My take too. I ordered 4 Gibbie R6s before I got one put together properly. 1 even had the tone pots unwired!!!!!!! HELLO!!! I have seen poor quality control on Gibbies that I haven't seen with Tokai. But the best guitar I played was a Gibson R9 in Shibuya. Go figure. Love that pic of the girl...

Tokai Love rock loves my superlead for recording : )

I keep going back and forth. I really like the Super100JH too, but it's sort of muddy? compared to the SL... I recorded a new track, live in the basement called Lucy's Lament with my Tokai Love Rock (Seth Lovers) and my 71 superlead. No pedals... it's here http://www.myspace.com/joewgorman

    Headstock angle

I tried searching but the search engine returned a bunch of stuff that I wasn't after. I already apologize as I am sure it's been asked a bunch. But, we all gravitate toward Tokai because of their consistently high quality, attention to detail and we probably all know the story of Billy...
