Tokai FB-45 Firebird

Having just seen Joe Bonamassa play a Firebird and more recently Derek Trucks play one, I'm really digging the sound of those pickups.

How is the quality on these Tokai models?

Where are they made?

Being in the states can anyone make a comparison to a guitar I may have played like "similar in quality to an Epiphone, etc"

Would I be better off with a used Epiphone?

i tried one a while back, i think it was second-hand. was made in korea, iirc, but i'm guessing the newer ones are made in china.

it was alright, but not of the same quality as the mij tokais. regarding epis... much of a muchness, i think (though i haven't tried the epi firebird, just based on the other epis i have tried).
