Could please someone generalize the categories of Tokai LS model guitars soundwise? I have an LS75 (92 in 2010 catalogue), and I wonder what is the real difference between this one and, let's say, 120, 160, 240 and so on from the same 2010 catalogue? I mean, if at some point I wanted an upgrade, I'd like to know which price range gives something to the sound and which is only a cosmetic upgrade or what. Maybe different type of mahogany wood used on more expensive models, different hardware and so on?

LS75 and LS92 are identical guitars except the current LS92 has MK11s instead of MK111s.

Same mahogany bodies, same two piece solid maple tops.
The "F" adds 6000 JYen to the LS92 price, and the "Q" adds 13000 JYen to the LS92 price.

My favourite guitar in the range is the LS92 with MK11 pups in it.

Thanks. I had forgot that you already told me this...

I have recently bought LS75, which was made in 2010 (even serial number confirms that), from a local dealer who gets them straight from Tokai Japan. Payed for it 77,213.52 JPY (I just converted price in my currency to JPY through www.xe.com) - but it was on sale, and the price before that was 87,563.58 JPY.

There are also these models:
LS92 - 94,472.27 JPY
LS98F - 97,695.56 JPY
LS105Q - 105,473.90 JPY
I think they all are from 2010 catalogue.

So I wonder, how is it that LS75 was made in 2010, while they replaced it with 92 model that year?

And is it possible to buy MK2 pickups? How much would they cost and how could I find them? I could not find them on eBay using a keyboard "MK2"

Here?s an old post from ?guitarslinger?:

?We're still getting all sorts of weird and wonderful numbers on the guitars/boxes.

Just received in 1 x Tokai LS80 VF (according to the invoice from Tokai UK)

The current model name for this is: LS92.

Guess what it says says on the Tokai box when we opened it up??????!?!

LS75?

I wouldn?t worry too much about Tokai?s numbering system.

The serial number is 2010, the 2010 JAPANESE catalogue says the guitar is an LS92...end of story, never mind what the dealer thinks or says.

Go look at an online dealer in Japan, you wont see LS75s for sale, you'll see LS92.

I believe that I am that dealer. Currently I have LS75 and LS92, both made in this year. I just made new order - a few LS75 included and was confirmed. They still made them, maybe not for all markets. I saw many LS75 around the Europe in various guitar shops. According to my price list LS92 was LS80 in past and still called LS80(92).

What pickups do your 2010 LS75 guitars have in them...I'm guessing MK111s?
Do your LS92 models have MK11s in them?

It can get a bit confusing, I guess it depends what & how you order from Tokai.

What are the differences between an LS75, an LS80, and an LS92..I only order LS92?

I looked at stratlt's catalogue, and at least according to that, LS75 - MK3, LS80 and LS92 - MK2. If that is how it is in reality, then I assume that the current LS75 is the same as LS92, except that it has MK3 pickups instead of MK2, and LS80 does just not exist anymore (I presume LS80 is no more available to stratlt), as it is an ex-75 and now-92.
LS75 with MK3 not being in the official Tokai catalogue of 2010 may mean that they sell this model as an exception, because the prices went up and some dealers may want to order a guitar at a more affordable price in sacrifise of MK2 pickups...

No, is not. LS75 is LS75. LS80 is old version of LS92 (currently not in stock) and has Mk3 pickups.

FWIW, I bought a new LS80 in 2010 (serial number: 1022...) and it was advertised as having MKII pu?s.
