Amazing deal on that JB80 BLR considering it's in excellent condition and it has a nice wood grain for an alder body. Looks like it was in a closet for the past 43 years!

It is Blonde (BL) R. You can see through it.

And if I had the dough it would be going home with me. Rare beauty.

1981 model I would guess since that is the first year of the JB.

1981 catalog specs

I stand corrected. Didn't realize that they replaced OW with BL for the JB80 from 1980 - 1983. The 1984 Tokai catalog has the TJB80 in all the same colors as the lower models and no longer in BL. I couldn't find another example of a JB80 BLR anywhere so I guess it is rare.

I have never seen one. As I said, rare, and if I had the extra cash I would snag it and sell my JB45.

Lovely looking bass. I find it a bit odd that the seller would suggest it is either a 60 or an 80 when it clearly has an 80 sticker on it, makes me think there's something about it he doubts and he's covering his back, unless he thinks the 80 sticker is the year but I doubt it.

I know the bass serials are odd around this time. Would like to see the body code as it must have to be December. My PB80 has a Dec 78 body code and a Jan 79 neck code, maybe it's a similar situation.

He's a broker. If you look at his listings he sells more golf items than guitars. Does not surprise me.
