The first digit equaling the year applies to the seven digit serial 1978-1982 model numbers. i believe that is how it works.

like 9001452 would be a 1979(the 1,452 guitar made that year)

I believe the neck and body dates are supposed to match on all models, or at least be within one month or so.

Hi Thanks for all your time and effort,i cant see anywhere any signs of where the decal has been,makes you think it had a different neck?
but because of the stamps matching 7=1 on body and neck then i suspect not.
What do they mean 7=1 is the radius or something?
I may just get a fender logo ..not that i would try and con anyone cos i think its better than a fender anyway.

If its any help my telecaster has no decal and never had.On the other thread the TE picture shows no decal.Maybe there was a batch or something legal back there which halted a Fender type logo
