Bruce ~ It's 3M aluminium foil tape (2") soldered at the joints. Well worth doing.

Orv ~ I don't know if you've ever tried Fender Texas Specials, but these are very similar. In fact, they're a little hotter. They have loads of bite, crunch, cream, quack...you name it. REALLY worth the $59.95 I paid for them.
