DIY Workshop: How to upgrade the bridge on your Telecaster-style guitar

RF8mu49.jpg

… Or you could just cut and finish each dowel a little short of the depth of the hole and then tap them flush using a small piece of wood between the dowel and the hammer to prevent bruising. No, no, probably better to run a coarse-bladed saw across the face of the instrument. You can see it doesn't damage … oh wait a minute. It does.

FS Tokai Super Edition £275 for quick sale. - Guitars £ Discussions on theFretBoard

August 2019

"Been playing this all weekend, set it up to my spec but I can't get on with it. Think I would prefer a 50's style strat.
So its up for sale. I believe its about 85-86 great condition, frets are pretty much as new, fretboard looks quality rosewood.
Not sure if body ash or alder, no extra routing done all original as far as I can see. Open to trades.
Let me see what you have."

Feb. 2021

"I completely gave it a makeover and my son fell in love with it and uses it now.... This is what it looks like now. Pickups are the original, but new gold plated vintage trem and vintage tuners."

Makes me want to vomit to be honest.

This is part of the problem with people not understanding the guitars of the mid 80s and why I have tried to shine a spotlight on this era and shed some understanding.

Before I strted focusing on this period very few people did, with some prominent exceptions as I have mentioend elsewhere. But the focus had very much been on 1982 and earlier.

This was a very nice and rare guitar. Really a shame that there is one less in the world.

A well-maintained strat:

Seller says, "There are scratches on the body. The head was damaged by intentionally removing the paint by rubbing it with sandpaper and by drilling holes needlessly. It doesn't seem to affect the pegs or tuning."

Jimi Hexnut. :D No, I don't want to know what was going on in their head when they came up with that, maybe it's contagious or they had screws in there too.
