Some odd stuff was happening at Tokai in 1985. If you study the TLC models in the mid 80s you quickly figure that out.
Starting this thread to log various 1985 TLC examples.
So far, there are 2 types of headstock inlays (split diamond and a 4 point diamond).
Also, there is another example of a 1985 Les Paul with 1987 pots which seems to indicate a disruption in production in 1985.
LC models would disappear after 1985 and not reappear until 1989/1990 when those two types of headstock inlays also reappear.
And for reference, here is what the 1985 catalog showed for available TLC models. Obviously not a complete representation of what they made. Additional models include an all gold TLC65 model, a wine red TLC65, a cherry sunburst TLC65 model, and a silver burst TLC70 model. There is even a snake skin example that is unclear if it is a factory finish.
