I see what you mean re Metallic Red on my jazz, @Sigmania .. this looks like the same finish.

This one kind of throws me off becuse of the black pick guard. They normally used white pickguards on the metallic red finish.

Here is my 1982 JB45MRR & 1981 ST80MRR
