Hey all. I wonder if anyone has experience replacing the humbuckers in the tele thinline '72 reissue. A friend of mine has enlisted my help, he apparently has ordered standard humbuckers... I understand the fender humbuckers on those guitars were rather large. Will he have to get a new pickguard made? I'm sure the gaps won't bother him if there's just a little space around the new pickup... but will I physically be able to drill into the old pickguard to mount them, or are the slots too big even for that?
