I now consider my collection of Tokai stomp boxes to be complete
. I now own the following ones:
TDS-1 Distortion (one silver and one black)
TMD-1 and TMD-2 Metaldriver (TMD-1 black metallic and TMD-2 pearl white) (excellent overdrive!)
TOD-2 Overdrive (pearl white)
TCH-1 Chorus (black)
TPH-1 Phaser (black)
TFL-1 Flanger (silver)
new! TFL-2 Flanger (white)
TXC-1 Exciter (2 of them, both silver)
TDL-1 Delay (black)
TCO-1 Compressor (silver)
The TMD's are identical inside, the pcb is marked TMD-1 in the TMD-2 and the sound you get from them is identical. The TOD-2 pcb is marked TOD-1. The TDS-1 pedals have slightly different sound, the silver one has a little more pronounced midrange. In my opinion all of the pedals are very good, they sound good and are not noisy at all. Also the power consumption is very low allowing you to use batteries. It's almost impossible to destroy a pedal from the first series. Not one of the pots in any of the pedals is scratchy, very impressive considering most of them are 17-19 years old (1984-1986)! The plastic box second series work well but are not as tough as the first series.
edit: Another one has joined the collection, a TFL-2 flanger, got it cheap with a defect battery connector.
