Well I posted a few queries on the forum, no replies
I did go ahead and got it of flebay at AUS$425
The seller told me it was a MIK but to my knowledge it is a MIC as the body is a three piece, neck is a two piece, as in joined up at the headstock, all joints are well made!
Adj made: Neck shims=flimsy and not high enough, new ones made and inserted, adj bridge height to suit
Neck pup, height adj not there= a few wooden shims for the screws & some soft foam underneath the pup for adj. Adj the neck & bridge height for balance
A few buzzes from the bridge was fixed by filing of the bottom end of the bridge saddles, to high, they where riding on the bottom of the bridge instead of the desired grooves, hence they buzzed
Some buzzes on the low E was fixed by a few frets tapped in, relieving the neck by an 1/8 turn of the truss rod nut, leveling the frets with a sharpening stone, specially the higher frets, ie 7-20, finishing off with a fret file and wet & dry sand paper
To finish!
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!
Luckily I have some tool skills, some beginners out there don't
Be aware!!
But this mediocre instrument is now a really nice player!!!
Beatiful rich and snappy sound, no fret buzzes
Love this instrument for what it is worth
A cheapy that now plays and sounds really GOOD
Hope this helps someone out thinking of buying cheap, trying to save a few $$$
You dont if you havn't got the skills to do a proper setup yourself
I took a gamble and in hindsight I think I lost considering the work I had to put into the instrument, but there was no replies on the forum
Cheers lads
And happy ANZAC DAY to all our Aus Nz readers
Lest we forget!!!!
