As a new member of the forum, and as a new convert to the Tokai brand,I have been looking in on e bay for a chance to build up my collection....I managed to get hold of a Tokia Jazz sound....in pretty good condition for....?70 (plus ?20 postage) The guy who was selling it didn't know anything about guitars...it seems it used to belong to his girlfriends father, who played it for years in Denmark. It was covered in stickers, which came off fine using a hairdryer....and had a plate covering the Tokai brand name on the headstock, which had the name of a brand of vaacum cleaner!
I emailed the guy a few hours before the auction finished, and asked what kind of guitar it was,and the serial number......when he said it was a Tokai,I went for it...praying no one else would see it. After getting it,I started looking for another one....I know that its a one off to get one at that price, but what I see now is Tokais with price's that seem to be going up and up.....I suppose I have been spoiled, but at the moment I can see guitars starting at about ?300/?375.....and one for sale in America,on e bay for nearly ?800!.......I know its a great guitar....but i could buy a pretty good new/used Fender at that price.......a bit of band wagon jumping I think......or am I just being the usual tight Scottish git!
I will try and post some pictures soon....but it goes to show, with a bit of luck there are still great bargains on E bay.........sometimes! .....ps I missed out on a Hardthumper a month or so ago....it went for ?260....I had the wife beside me and agreed to stop at ?250.....hard to justify anything else at this time of year.....it seems that I have to buy presents for others...not just my self!
