I am after a fat necked Tele. Could anyone recommend me a model? We dont see much tele discussion really.

i hope my new Tokai 52RI has a fattie.

....don't forget the Fender James Burtons.
...and i heard the Danny Gattons are sweet, but too much $$$ 4 me

well like i said, i got my guitar, and it's real nice. the fit and finish are tremendous. the killer color is matched between the neck and body. the sound is very nice. it's definitely better than a MIM fender.

and the neck has a nice chuny-ness to it!

did i mention how nice the fit and finish is? :D

congrats on the new tokai 52 ... i am seriously considering one ..

just a few questions, if you dont mind .. is it a swimming pool rout under the pickguard? .. i might want to convert it to a nashville and was wondering

also, what size frets? neck radius? nut width?

how is the grain? nice and crisp and 'swirly'?

is it swamp ash? or japanese 'sen' ash?

play in good health and enjoy your new baby :)
cheers

-radius feels like 9.5
-prob swamp ash [w/ a substantial weight]
-grain is pretty, but coulda matched grain a little better (this is
the category where i've seen the most difference
between expensive and inexpensive guitars
...that and rolled edges)
-the neck is fat/hefty w/ a killer amber tint and high gloss
-nut wdth? prob 1.65 (or standard, whatever that is?)
-feels like MJ frets
-just single neck pup route...NO WORM HOLE

fwiw, it looks way more expensive than it was.
very shiney....massive *curb appeal*.....8]

thanks for the answers frank .. sounds like you have a real beauty! ... any chance we could see some digipics and hear some sounclips of her?

peace,

pix....yes, soon
sound....no, i don't actually play guitar

hehehe.....naaaaaa, i'm messin w/ ya! .....but it wouldn't be anytime soon
for me to be able to get a sound bite.

To me, the sound is very similar to any standard Asian tele.
The neck pup is muddy, the mid is a smooth combo of the 2,
and the bridge is sheer Tele bite.
Also, FWIW and IMHO, i think they let the neck b muddy
to emulate a HB-ish sound.
....so it's all things to all people.

Hey ..can you tell us where you got your telecaster. I'm looking at the teles from mikes music ...look pretty good.
