Just wondering if anyone has figured this out in a verifiable way?
I have seen AST56 & 62 guitars from 1982/83 that have an entirely different scheme almost as ssoon as it was introduced.
Also, Goldstars by 1987 have a different scheme that is 6 digit starting with 2xxxxx, then 5 digit in 1989, then 6 digit starting with 01xxxx in the early 90s(?).
Wondering when exactly it was abandoned? 1985? 1986?
