Hi
i have this tokai super edition. Looks just like a Goldstar Sound. Has the brass plate and U pickups under the scratch plate and has the 2 piece tremolo.
has TOKAI SUPER EDITION and then the small logo said SPECIAL SERIES. not OLDIES BUT GOLDIES
it it just a goldstar sound with a wrong logo or has any one seen one like this.
serial is L084067

Yep. Tokai is a bewildering company. The early Supers looked like Goldstars.

Your serial number is from 1983 I believe.

U pickups with that decal would be 1983 as well.

I am guessing your month code is after March (3) and before November (11).

See this thread and I will post your pictures over there as well and add it to the list.

Could you by chance share the production stamps on the body and or neck? Also a picture of the switch?

We have figured out that many of these switches have date codes as well. That would really help.

Oh, and I started collecting examples of Tokais with this "Special Series" decal. Still haven't sorted out what that means, but the seem to start in early 1983.
