Springy Sound Limited Runs 2009, 2012

I had not noticed this before. Was too busy hunting down the no serial Tokais from this period and the apparent tie in with Fender to notice that it has a Springy decal!

Very unusual like the rest of these guitars in this period.

Not sure if there’s more. Please post if you see one that is MIJ.

Well that makes some sense.

Just the other day he commented on the Mary Kay’s I posted and said some were labeled as Springys but didn’t add further.

Hi good forum, was just searching to find something similar to my one.
Bought from a German seller in 2005-2006 (there was a lot of Faber stuff on the page I distinctly remember) & the seller called this an "ST100"; didn't notice at the time there was no serial number.
Anyway, nice guitar that's going nowhere - just wondered what's up with no serial number on it.
A bit concerned that it could be a (very good) fake.

Not a fake.... Made during the period Tokai made guitars for Fender and did not put serial numbers on their Fender clones. Your guess is as good as mine as to why they did not.

But you saying when you bought yours really helps put together the timeline.

Just before your guitar was made they printed "MADE IN JAPAN" in all caps on their Fender clones. Also no serial number. Early 2000s?

And your headstock makes yours an AST rather than a TST with the traditional headstock shape.

Looks like there was a 2012 order.

togps confirmed these 2012 MK guitars were part of a 12 piece Faber order.

I have to ask since the dates are hard to sort out, is it possible this guitar is from 2009?

I ask because there was another Faber order that year apparently for these Springy labeled AST guitars.

There may be a date stamped in the neck pocket if it was made in 2009.

Looks like this one has a faint 09 date stamp and possibly 8 for August.

Is this Springy Sound genuine?

Wonder why AST guitars would be going to Germany with no legal requirement for the headstock shape, especially as it would seem there are standard headstocks about too. I thought AST only sold in the US.

I don't know. I am sure Gottfried would know. Maybe he was exporting them?
