hey guys,
according to what i've heard the catalog says for 1981, the ls120's came with dimarzio paf's.
i have one with a seymour duncan 59nl in the neck position and a seymour duncan 59bj in the bridge. solder joints look original. was this a possible option?
thanks,
-chris

As far as I know, only the LS200 had Seymour Duncans around that time. But of course it could have been changed later, even if the solder joints look original. Or Tokai might also have delivered it that way as a special order. How do you know it's a LS120?

As Hans says it would be a special request to Tokai.Tokai sometiemes is very flexible and placing a higher cost pickups charges more(my guess).
Old SD '59s are more regarded than new ones(thay were the top pickups at the time,a sort of boutique pup which actually are regarded).

it has the "120" sticker on the back of the headstock.
i take it geting ahold of a 1981 catalog is near impossible ...?
thanks for the info.

It's available as a scan on the main site (in Japanese):

But if you want to buy an original, you would have to hope for Ebay...
