Arrived (finally!) on Monday afternoon.I went to pick it up yesterday and took it out the box and wasn?t too impressed. The toggle with was snapped, plenty of chips in the finish (mostly on the bottom of the guitar), the usual scratches + some more significant ones. But it was a ?used? guitar (gigged hard for 3 years). It wasn?t packaged very well. Literally a few pieces of newspaper bit off bubble wrap and a couple of air bags. Anyway, I got home and plugged it in. The neck pickup wasn?t working (had non standard pickups in it before, and the stock ones were put back in and not wired properly). I Thought
"hmmm...I have a broken Gordon Smith lying around, why not use the pickups from that?? so I pulled pickups and wiring out go the GS and dropped them in to Tokai. I now have coil tapped humbuckers in it. I had heard the hype about these guitars but WOW! Plays great, VERY resonant and sounds sublime. I don?t even care about the chips and scratches. Sustain for days. Bit hard on the fingers but that?s because I?m using 10's and haven?t played guitar for a month! I also added a pick guard thatI "borrowed" from a friend, matches the fret board inlays.
