MkIII pickups

Hi all, picking up my LS80 next week. I have 2 questions...
1: What colour are these pickups under the chrome cover?
2: How do you remove the cover?

Well I picked up my new baby today, am a very happy man. Is there anybody that can describe how to remove the pickup covers, I would really appreciate it.

They are held on with solder.....melt the solder. Pull them out and turn them over and you will see it, its simple.

Go steady with the heat.

A Stanley knife can be used to cut through the solder. Sometimes safer for the wax and windings, sometimes more dangerous for your hands.

Leave the covers on, looks much better

+ 1 JohnA. It beats me why anyone would ruin the look of a humbucker (and therefore a guitar) by taking the covers off.
