Hi guys I'm new here so delete if not allowed. I've been looking at this LS65 1995 for sale and think it looks awesome. I already have a love Rock and would love another. This one says it's got dimarzios, Gotoh tailpiece installed, fret dress etc but not sure if this price is crazy or decent? Any input would be greatly appreciated :) Screenshot_20231216_090646_com.android.chrome.jpg

Hey there. These mid 90s LS55 and 65 guitars are OK guitars, but nothing to write home about.

had a mid 90s LS55GT and sold it not long after I got it.

I understand them changing those pickups. I really didn’t like the MKII pickups that came in mine. They were an unusual version of the MKII.

I also suspect they may be made in part in Korea to keep costs down, but I can’t prove that.

It may be a great one, hard to tell. But I had a ‘79 LS80 Les Paul Reborn GT at the same time and they were night and day so I sold it.

Here is the 1995 catalog for reference.

This one may be the same guitar?

For sale on Yahoo Japan May 2023.
Yes that is it, the serial matches the sellers photo of the back of headstock. What you think of the price? Like you say it could be a good one but also don't really wanna overpay if those models are not one of the good ones 😕

If you’re in the U.K. I personally think that price is on the high side, I quite consistently see mij love rocks of various levels go for £600-£800. Or rather be advertised for that, and some hang around for a while. The special ones can be anything from £1000 - whatever anyone is willing to pay but those are the premium ones

Edit

I’ve just had a look on eBay U.K. and the prices are pretty high (£1000+) on a lot of the lower number MIJ loverocks. It’s up to you, it’s worth what someone (you included) wants to pay for it.

I noticed the LS55/665 don't sell for much. You can do a web search for LS55 and 65.

I assume other folks felt the way I did and the demand isn't very high. A little better than a Korean or Chinese model.

Note that the seller apparently had it for 6 months and is selling it again. I assume they didn't bond with it like I didn't with mine.

So check Reverb, etc. to see what the market is for these. I haven't owned one in 10 years or so.

Well, he would have paid shipping. Not sure where you are but it isn't cheap. Plus fees on the platform he is selling on. eBay is around 10%

I am in UK as well as him. He's selling it via reverb which not sure what they charge. I'm tempted to put a lower offer in but may just walk away. Don't think he'll go much lower than what he's asking.

I’m in the U.K. and bought a tokai from Japan before, it was just as easy as buying from the U.K. I just had to pay 20% on what the guitar and postage cost. I was amazed at how easy it was, how quick the guitar got to me (4 days from the shop to my door)

It’s worth looking at what’s for sale there as the prices are usually low enough for it to be worth paying the 20% import

Also a lot of the sellers are well up for accepting cheeky offers, I assume it’s because of how the pound weighs up against the yen and they probably also whack a fair bit on to allow for offers.

I bought a brand new LS144s which was up for around £850, I offered them £730 which they accepted and all in delivered to my house (with a free hardcase thrown in) after fees and postage etc it was pretty much exactly £1000

Thanks man. I'll keep an eye out and possibly do that. Did you buy from a Japanese ebay seller or an actual shop over there with a website?

The guy has dropped his price down on reverb by 100 pounds this morning. Maybe would accept an offer if its not sold soon.
